Internet availability in Arizona
In Arizona, fixed wireless and cable are the most accessible connections, following the nearly universally available satellite internet. Internet availability refers to the portion of an area that has access to a specific connection type or internet provider.
Still, Arizona has a significant digital divide, or a gap in internet access between urban areas and rural or Tribal lands. With big cities like Phoenix having multi-gig access while rural areas typically rely on slower satellite service, it’s best to check your ZIP code to determine actual speeds near you, since localized availability depends heavily on your address.
Availability by connection type:
- Cable: 73%
- Fiber: 25%
- Satellite: 100%
- Fixed wireless: 85%
- DSL: 4%
Most widely available providers in Arizona
As shown in the previous table, Arizona residents never have to go without service thanks to universally available satellite from Hughesnet. Viasat and Starlink satellite also offer broad Arizona coverage for rural spots.
However, for faster, reliable connections, Cox and CenturyLink cover the most ground in Arizona, followed by 5G services (T-Mobile, Verizon). Other highly coveted ISPs like Google Fiber are expanding within certain Arizona cities, meaning more options for high-speed access may be coming to a town near you — always check your address first to determine the full range of internet options at your home when shopping for Wi-Fi.
Quality of internet access in Arizona
Nearly the entire state of Arizona has access to broadband speeds, while over half can access gigabit speeds.
- Residents with broadband access (speeds at or over 100/20 Mbps): 95%
- Residents with access to gigabit speeds (speeds at or over 1,000/100 Mbps): 62%
- Median download speed in Arizona: 287.73 Mbps

What internet speed do you need?
The internet speed you need depends on how many devices are connected to your home network and the daily internet activities you engage in. The Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) broadband speed standard is another good baseline: 100 Mbps download speed and 20 Mbps upload speed.
About 100 Mbps should be enough for one or two light users with few devices, but most households will need more. If you have more than two people in your household, each with multiple devices, explore mid-tier internet plans or higher (300 Mbps+).
Arizona internet customer reviews
Reading real customer experiences can make it easier to choose an Arizona internet provider that fits your priorities and Wi-Fi needs.
It took about 3 weeks to get the equipment. I had it installed on a pole with a modem in the master bedroom. I get excellent reception though out the home 3000 sq ft and my daughter who live in a casita approximately 300 feet away from the main home also has great reception. No need for mesh device.

I love Starlink! I get speeds of 234 Mbps!! Fastest around!!
5/5
The plan went up from $20 to $56 and it says speed data is 100. There is no way that is true, sometimes the devices get disconnected by itself, it’s crazy than the amount changes monthly it seems May was $50 now June $56 I. Not rich, but I need the service that is why I set up the service this is crazy.
