Our methodology
We evaluate broadband providers in four categories: affordability, performance, value and customer satisfaction. Each category contains multiple sub-factors, all of which are weighted differently to impact the provider’s overall score.
For each sub-factor, we score all providers on a continuous scale of one to five, relative to the industry as a whole. Because the average download speed in America is currently 290 Mbps, for example, we assigned all plans with download speeds between 100 and 299 Mbps a score between three and four. Xfinity’s 200 Mbps plan received a 3.50 score for download speed, while Spectrum’s 500 Mbps plan got a 3.71.
We only considered standardized data points in our scoring system. More abstract data like consistency of service and brand reputation is still part of our analysis, but we opted to let our writers address them in the context of each review.

I had to call and spend hours on the phone every month for 6 months because my service would cut off. I wasn’t provided any compensation for the time or bad service. Finally they told me the equipment i had wasn’t used anymore. They gave me new equipment but it doesn’t work half the time. The tech didn’t explain how to use it, and come to find out he didn’t do it right. I’ve called repeatedly asking for help with using the recording/dvr and explaining the error messages I’m getting, but none of the reps seem to be listening to me because they just keep giving me the same instructions, which don’t work because there’s an error. After another approximately 6 months, I get a rep who did something and I get a msg on the TV that recordings can now be set up. My request for a bill credit was denied. I also pay $308 a month for the crappy service and they refuse to lower the price. New customers can get higher internet speeds than I have and at half the cost i pay. This is the only provider offered at my apt complex so I’m screwed. I will not be renewing my lease here because of how bad Astound is. It’s not possible these days to function without internet service, and I’ve been taken advantage of for years.

I pay $389.00 for TV and internet. Nothing but outages and terrible wait time from customer service reps. No reliability and I have been a customer since 1992.

I spoke with 2 reps, but the issue remains. They told me that since I did not specifically use the term “Disconnect” in my previous requests that they did not process my request for a…
I’ve been a customer for 6 years. On August 21, 2025, I experienced terrible customer service when I called in to inquire about previous cancelation request of my account. I spoke with 2 reps, but the issue remains. They told me that since I did not specifically use the term “Disconnect” in my previous requests that they did not process my request for a cancelation and therefore i will have to pay for an entire month despite not wanting their service. I’m extremely disappointed that they would treat their long-term patron like this. Buyers beware, they will nickel and dime you every way and charge you for a service they won’t provide.
